Announcement:

In brief: For the foreseeable future, I will no longer be taking any orders, nor will I be taking on any more custom projects. I need to take a step back, prioritize myself, and focus on my mental and physical health. The last two years have really taken a toll on me mentally, physically, and financially. I have been dealing with depression, PTSD, and anxiety/panic disorder, at times severe, and the mental health issues resulting from life events over the last two years.

For more clarity: In Sept of 2019 I left a job and dead-end career path that was draining the life out of me. I was commuting 5 hours and working 60hr weeks. It was not sustainable. I went back to school in the spring of 2020 for Project Management, with the hopes of entering a new industry and finding a brighter future amidst a strong economy and job market…and then COVID happened. Fast forward to October 2020, hundreds of job applications later, working a part-time retail job, and still no full time employment. I had to sell my beloved 1994 NAS Defender trail rig to make ends meet after having not had full time employment for 12 months. It killed me.

Psyoptic Development has never been a full-time engagement for me, nor an especially lucrative endeavor, but rather a labor of love, rooted in a passion for fabrication, functional design, artistry, and the Land Rover Defender. I am a one man show, I design everything, do all fabrication and welding, pack every last box myself, and all the other stuff in between. It’s a lot of time and work, but a passion I cannot shake. However, I have found that since I no longer own a Defender, it’s just not that much fun for me anymore, the stress, the hassles, the challenges no longer feel worth it. What was once invigorating, is now just draining, and something has to change.

Some of you have reached out to me wanting to place orders or discuss custom vehicle projects and I have not responded and for that I sincerely apologize. I am busy with my new career, trying to focus on myself and my amazing partner, and at the moment I’m just not capable of handling the extra stress and pressure of trying to run a business and being able to deliver at the high level that I demand of myself and which my clients expect of me.

Is this the end for me? Not at all. I still have ideas I want to bring to life, and new products sitting in my sketch pad ready for me to create, and I really hope to have another Defender one day. I miss my Defender immensely. I still have dreams about driving it. At some point I will be making parts again…I just don’t know when that will be.

I want to thank everyone for their support through the years. I realize I’ve never been fast, but I have always strived to deliver the highest quality custom parts one can buy for a Land Rover Defender.
